Dronabinol

Dronabinol is a synthetically manufactured version of the cannabis compound THC, which can be prescribed privately in the UK to treat certain health conditions.

Structurally identical to THC, Dronabinol is a synthetic cannabinoid manufactured in a lab. First used in Britain during the 1990s, in ‘98, the British Medical Association recommended that Dronabinol should become a licensed medicine because of its efficacy in treating AIDS-associated anorexia.

Today, Dronabinol is still unlicensed, although it is still available through private prescription to stimulate appetite or to relieve vomiting and nausea associated with chemotherapy treatments.
